Beats and Downbeats

When Metronome is selected, the screen, as shown below, is displayed.

On installation, the Metronome defaults to display four bars in the most popular time signature of 4/4 time, also known as Common Time.

A Beat is a unit measure in music. A beat is a thumping sound that occurs at regular intervals. 

The ChordWalk metronome presents a Beat Marker that scrolls at a rate corresponding to the selected tempo. Remember, the tempo is the number of beats that occur in a minute. 

A vertical line identifies the first beat within a bar (downbeat). The other beats within a bar are represented by small green circles that scroll at the speed of the selected tempo. Remember: A quarter note is the length of one beat. Four bars are displayed in the image below.
