Setup GarageBand on Mac, iPad, or iPhone for Bluetooth MIDI Reception

GarageBand is a fully-featured DAW that is available for free on all Apple devices. It lets you record, edit, mix, and master your creations. However, GarageBand alone does not generate original music. Combined with ChordWalk, it becomes an ideal tool for creators of any level to generate meaningful and fulfilling original music.

Using ChordWalk with Multiple Devices ChordWalk allows you to connect and play multiple devices simultaneously. Each device requires an independent connection that ChordWalk can recognize.

Setup Instructions

  1. Using GarageBand on a Windows PC:

    • Although GarageBand is not natively available on Windows, you can use it as an external playing and recording device connected to your Windows PC.

    • Start by selecting an instrument in GarageBand. For example, on an iPad, select an Acoustic Guitar from the Guitar Instrument range.

Select the settings icon shown in the top right-hand corner with a red circle.

A drop-down menu is displayed. Select Advanced.

Select Bluetooth Midi Devices

A drop-down menu displays the Bluetooth MIDI Devices that are detected.
In this case there two Yamaha MD BT01 are detected and either one can be selected.

Select a Bluetooth Midi Device and GarageBand is ready to play and record your ChordWalk creations on any selected instrument. You can move seamlessly between instrument choices and between play and record within GarageBand.

You are now ready to start playing and creating with GarageBand.
