Getting Started

ChordWalk is not a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Instead, it sends MIDI data streams to a locally running DAW, an externally connected device with a DAW, or any MIDI device capable of playing MIDI instrument sounds. ChordWalk can also play locally installed SoundFonts. Detailed instructions for connecting to DAWs and external devices and installing SoundFonts are provided - use the search functionality to go directly to this.

A wide range of DAWs are available, from free entry-level options to more advanced versions. A good starting point is to download a trial version of a beginner DAW and experiment with it. As your experience and knowledge grow, you can upgrade to more complex versions. Popular DAWs often come with helpful video tutorials and a large community of creators who share tips and tutorials.

For iPad users, Garageband is an excellent free option that supports a wide range of high-quality instrument sounds. When used with ChordWalk, you can create impressive drum and bass sequences. This setup is covered in detail later in the guide.

To get started, you must set up a MIDI device connection. ChordWalk runs on Windows 10+ PCs, Apple Macs, iPads, and iPhones. It can also be configured as a Remote Creative Surface to connect with other Apple or Windows devices running a DAW.

You can use the search function to find your preferred setup and configuration instructions for specific operating systems or DAWs.
