Chord Play Pattern Setup

For full chord playing, the note value in the first pattern defaults to the value set in the parent pane.

Deactivated or muted notes will not be played as part of the full chord.

You can add additional pattern steps by selecting the Open New Steps (+) icon. To create novel chord patterns, add new steps and set the note values to generate interesting and compelling rhythmic patterns. Adjust the volume, mute, and gate settings to add variety and interest to the pattern.

TIP: In modern rock music, many instrumentalists play power chords, which drop the middle note of a chord to add drive and power to the voicing. You can configure a power chord by muting the middle note.

Be aware that if you have multiple pattern steps set up, the total step length values should equal either a sixteenth (1/16), an eighth (1/8), a quarter (1/4), a half (1/2), or one (1). This ensures the pattern is maintained within each bar and loops correctly across multiple bars.

If the pattern's total note value length equals one (1), this ensures that the play pattern will loop and repeat on the downbeat every time in a 4/4 time signature, which is crucial for drum and bass beat creation. A rest/silence is initiated when a selected note is muted or has its volume set to zero.

You can transpose a full chord in the same way as arpeggios. All notes are simultaneously transposed in full chord playing according to the transpose settings.
