Alternate Mode Arpeggiation

The second mode is Alternate Mode. When the Chain/Alternate icon is deselected, the arpeggiator will play only one note step within the expanded note area in descending order, before moving to the next higher note order position. An indicator shows when a note in the pattern is active.

Alternate Mode: The chart below shows the note sequences for Alternate Mode using the pattern displayed above. The arpeggiator alternates between the note values in sequence.

You can mix any combination of Chain and Alternate modes for a chord, which can produce exciting and novel sound combinations. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

TIP: When setting up your note flavors, aim to create a rhythmic pattern that loops seamlessly and sounds complete on the beat. The pattern should trigger seamlessly at any point in your creation. If a pattern sounds off or jarring, it may not be looping correctly on the downbeat. This usually happens when the total step lengths do not equal the bar length or multiples of it.

Remember: In a 4/4 time signature, there are four quarter notes in a bar. The total of all step lengths should equal 1 bar. For example, if the length of the four C notes totals 1/2 a bar, and the step length totals for the E and G notes also equal 1/2 a bar, the arpeggio pattern will complete a full bar and loop/repeat seamlessly when synced to the downbeat.
