Arpeggiators in ChordWalk

Overview

In ChordWalk, using fewer, well-constructed arpeggios create better rhythms and melodies. Features like "Sync to Downbeat" enhance performance while allowing advanced customization and MIDI routing.

When using arpeggios, remember that less is more. While ChordWalk allows multiple arpeggios (Arps) to play simultaneously, using just two well-constructed Arps is often best. This creates rhythmic, original, varied, and compelling music without overwhelming noise. Many hit songs were made with only four tracks and a few instruments.

Access the Arpeggiator view by selecting the Arps icon.

Start with one Arpeggiator using simple settings, then gradually introduce more Arps and advanced features. ChordWalk's unique capabilities let you create complex rhythms and melodies for various instruments. Don't rush—take your time to get comfortable with each feature.

For beginners or intermediate users, start by selecting “Sync to Downbeat” to ensure chord and arpeggio changes occur precisely on the downbeat, enhancing your performance. To sync, activate the Sync to Downbeat icon, select a chord, and hold it until you hear the change. Alternatively, ChordWalk will automatically play the selected chord on the next downbeat.

Set a time signature and use the metronome for accuracy.

Experienced users can opt for "Free Run" for manual beat syncing. Choose a tempo that fits your genre.

You're now ready to start creating arpeggios.

Note: You can route the output from an individual Arpeggiator to one or multiple MIDI destinations. The default setting routes it to all selected destinations, but you can choose specific ones as needed.
