Lesson 13: Major Second Interval

The interval between the ninth harmonic (9X) and the eighth harmonic (8X) gives the major second interval.

The frequency ratio of the major second is 9X/8X= 9:8.

The interval covers two white positions of the C major scale.

There are two semitones spanning the notes of a major second interval. This major second distance between the root and second notes of chords are known as suspended chords.

A major second is equal to a Tone.
